The
Concert of Ideas is music, poetry, theater, storytelling, virtuosic
performance and imaginative dialogue across the footlights. It is
Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man”,
Bernstein’s Finale to CANDIDE, Broadway classics and original
compositions performed live and weaving through ideas and stories
from Einstein, Picasso, Shakespeare, Cervantes, Margaret Mead, James
Baldwin, Richard Feynman, Langston Hughes and more -- all blended
and sequenced to set the mind in motion and help participants access
multiple creative connections, deeper personal insights and rich
new solutions to the challenges at hand.
It has been said that in the permanent whitewater
of life in the 21st century, the only constant we have is change.
Creative leadership is essential for the survival of individuals,
organizations, and cultures as we seek to adapt to the perpetual
challenges of everyday life. “Leadership and Creativity Conference”
is the first forum of its kind to bring together leadership learners
who value purposeful innovation and the cultivation of diverse strengths
in their efforts to make a difference. The theme of this year’s
conference – Igniting the Wildfires of Imagination! – underscores the important connection between self-directed
passion, individuality, and transformative leadership. Leaders who
value creativity know that people operate on a higher level –
of productivity and morality – when they are given the freedom
to use their unique talents and visions, rather than when they are
made to conform to some predetermined set of expectations. To this
end, the Leadership and Creativity conference intends to offer the
following learning outcomes.
Learning Outcomes
Leadership and Creativity Conference participants
will:
Have a better understanding of creativity –
what it is and the many ways in which people are creative;
Make meaningful connections between leadership
and creativity and how each can enhance the other;
Be able to anticipate some challenges in creative
leadership and learn best ways to work through these obstacles;
Learn specific skills about applying creativity
to such leadership practices as problem-solving, unique positioning,
and facilitating change;
Discover how to build environmental conditions
that foster creativity.
Target Audiences
Leadership learners looking for an original training
experience. Diverse backgrounds of participants are expected:
Higher education – leadership
students, emerging leaders, students of the arts, mentors, and
faculty/staff from related disciplines and departments
Those in the non-profit and business sectors demonstrating
or showing promise in leadership
Healthcare professionals and students
