The Kinesthetics of Leadership with Dianne Legro
Authentic Leadership Presence:  Mastering Your “Still-point”

In this workshop, presentation expert and performer Dianne Legro will lead exercises that help you to experience how it feels (your physical imprint) to perform freely calmly and effectively in the upper ranges of your skills and abilities- while under pressure and in high stakes moments.  Dianne will help participants learn to form the still point centeredness (physically, mentally, emotionally and kinesthetically) and quiet mind necessary for authenticity and sustained quality performance.

Participants will…

  • experience their own still point kinesthetically.
  • experience that special state of inner stillness while being fine-tuned, active and alert mentally and emotionally.
  • learn to replace their current bio feedback system with conscious constructive thought during high performance situations.
  • learn how to recharge, connect and renew their thoughts and physical energy during daily work performance.
  • learn to lead with authenticity, confidence, and wisdom.

Praise for Dianne from the 2006 Leadership & Creativity Conference:

“Mind body connection and relationship is absolutely underrated and undervalued.”

“An hour was too short with her – could have spent all day. Wanted to know more…”

“I wish she had her own day to tell us everything she knows.”

Top Form: Risk, Focus, Flow with Donna Wissinger
Learning about Vulnerability and Peak Performance from the Arts and Sports

The complexity of today's world demands of its leaders, managers and those ascending into those roles a new combination of personal and psychological excellence: on the one side, habits of mental toughness, strategies for successful performance and improved personal awareness, and on the other, habits of curiosity and appreciative inquiry blended with inclinations toward community and the pursuit of deepening perspectives. The former are the celebrated attributes of high performance athletes, the latter of outstanding creative and performing artists. Participants in this workshop will learn to leverage the powerful techniques of both as they discover the power we each possess to transform our habits of everyday experience into synergies which enable success and meaningful lives of our own choosing. “It is in the moments in which we dare to live as we would choose that we define our lives.” “Every time I do my best my best gets better.”

DONNA WISSINGER, flutist, is a principal of Creative Leaps International and its parent company, Associated Solo Artists, Inc. A graduate of SUNY-Stonybrook and the Salzburg Mozarteum, Ms. Wissinger has performed solo recitals on the main stages of Carnegie Hall, the Glinka Capella in Leningrad, and in many cities across the USA and Europe. Of Color and Courage: Diversity in Learning Communities with Paul Spencer Adkins
The Gift and the Challenge: Diversity in Corporate and Learning Communities

In racially diverse workplaces, cultural differences can be a powerful two-edged sword: enriched creativity and human resources on the one side, unrest and failing productivity on the other. Of Color & Courage begins with a "celebration of differences" setting in motion an upbeat, candid dialogue aimed at demystifying the unknowns and harvesting for practical use the unique perspectives from differing cultures. Themes include: perseverance in the face of adversity, facing issues head-on, adversity as opportunity, going beyond lip service, taking the time to walk in another man's shoes, discovering the reality of inner resources, and tapping the power of personal will.  Workshop leader Paul Spencer Adkins narrates the journey of celebrated concert artist Roland Hayes, known as "the Jackie Robinson of classical music". Of Color & Courage will challenge participants to chart personally meaningful strategies for their leadership roles in the workplace, roles which stand to profit from diversity as a source of creativity and adaptive human talent.

PAUL SPENCER ADKINS is a principal of Creative Leaps International and its parent company, Associated Solo Artists, Inc. A graduate of West Virginia University, the University of the Arts and the Academy of Vocal Arts, Adkins, a winner of the First Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition, is today a leading tenor with opera companies and orchestras throughout the USA and abroad. He co-produced and starred in the PBS television special The Musical Legacy of Roland Hayes. Mr. Adkins is a Master Class artist in colleges and universities and has championed the" Ebony and Ivory" project for better community relations in the United States. Paralleling his work on stage and in the classroom, Adkins has worked to open a creative dialogue on cultural diversity in the workplace and centers of learning. His seminar Of Color & Courage is a positively premised forum for candid, profound and progressive dialogue on this most important subject. Visit www.paulspenceradkins.com for more.

Leadership: Thinking, Perceiving and Judgement with John Cimino
Fluid Perspective, Paradox and Metaphor plus Eight Attitudes of Leadership

Leadership in complex, dynamic environments has literally redefined what leadership is and what we mean by leadership characteristics. New leadership competencies are proving essential, including fluid perspective, exploration in the absence of rules, subtle noticing, the ability to portray paradox and facility with metaphor. Researchers at the Center for Creative Leadership in North Carolina and Creative Leaps International in New York have defined these new capabilities as aesthetic competencies linked powerfully to our everyday habits of perception, styles of thinking and approaches to making judgments. Equally important is a revised understanding of leadership as partnership, leadership as an emergent property of groups, and groups comprised of ever greater diversity. Participants in this workshop will immerse themselves in these new sensibilities and, finally, assess themselves via renowned statesman Harlan Cleveland's Eight Attitudes of Leadership for the 21st Century.

JOHN CIMINO is president of Creative Leaps International (1992), The Learning Arts, (1982), and president and co-founder of the parent company, Associated Solo Artists, Inc. (1972). Educated at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (biology & physics), the State University of New York at Albany (learning theory), and the Manhattan and Juilliard Schools of Music (music & voice), Cimino holds a uniquely interdisciplinary perspective and works across a host of disciplines dedicated to learning and human development. He is the winner of more than 20 national and international awards and prizes as an operatic and concert performer and has performed to acclaim throughout Europe and the continental United States. As a champion of the arts in professional life and in education, Cimino has brought his company’s "Concerts of Ideas" and other innovative arts programs into projects of the White House, the Center for Creative Leadership, Washington DC’s Center for Excellence in Municipal Management, and the leadership training programs of dozens of Fortune 500 companies including GE, IBM, Pfizer, McDonnell Douglas, the SC Johnson Company and Starbucks, as well as to numerous universities and professional organizations. Recent projects include presentations before the Global Leadership Forum (Istanbul), the International Organization Development Association (Guanajuato), the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society (Irvine, Ca), the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (Alexandria, VA) the Association for Managers of Innovation (Greensboro, NC), the "Crossing Paths" Conference on interdisciplinary approaches to artist development (Indianapolis, IN) and “Common Ground” where he spoke on Innovations Beyond the Classroom in Arts-Based Learning (Rochester). Cimino also serves as a consultant and advisor to universities engaged in interdisciplinary reorganization and the introduction of arts-based teaching and learning among university faculty. He also facilitates leadership education, creativity training and entrepreneurship initiatives in higher education. www.creativeleaps.org.

The Hero's Journey Through the Bach Chaconne with Richard Albagli
Stages of Awareness: Aligning Your Life with its Deepest Passions and Dreams

“As Man thinks, so Man creates.” This has been a guiding principle of philosophers, scientists and educators down through the centuries.   So it is not surprising that one can get deep insights into who we are and how we think by studying some of the great works of music: their logic, their flow, their overall design, the transformational qualities inherent in them that we can apply to our own lives. This monumental work, the Back Chaconne, originally written for solo violin, takes us through the stages of the Hero’s journey: “the call of God” -- a call to transform our lives and undertake a life-changing mission -- and our response to this call. What is required of us to reach that state at which fundamental change is possible? What mind processes must we undergo, what sacrifices will we entail? As the music wends its through to its powerful conclusion we will examine these stages of awareness, reflect on the pain and sacrifice that may be required, and exult in the power that can come from aligning your life with its deepest passions and dreams.

RICHARD ALBAGLI is founding Vice President and Treasurer of Associated Solo Artists (ASA), Inc. (1972). He is also a physicist, a percussionist, and a Principal Artist of Creative Leaps International; and his dual background in physics and music has been the cornerstone of dozens of projects linking the arts, sciences and humanities. He holds a Bachelor's degree in physic from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a Master's degree in performance from the Eastman School of Music and has been the principal percussionist of the Albany Symphony Orchestra since 1979. Albagli is Musical Director of the Empire State Youth Percussion Ensemble, which has performed under his direction since 1984 to national acclaim (including performances at the Percussive Arts Society International Conference in 1998 and on the nationally syndicated radio show, "From the Top"). He has composed and arranged more than forty works for ensemble and solo percussion including commissions from the Albany Symphony and the Empire State Youth Orchestra as well as collaborations with other ASA/Creative Leaps artists. He currently holds teaching posts at SUNY-Albany and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Track 1
Finding Your Personal Purpose with Kevin May, Affiliate Faculty for Regis University’s Masters in Non-Profit Program

Praise for Kevin from the 2006 Leadership & Creativity Conference:

“Well worth the whole day. Most empowering speaker ever. He inspires the best in all of us.”

“Kevin is a genuine light – remarkable gift.”

In the history of the world there will never be another you, this season and time will never come again. Your noble obligation to the world is to give to it what no other human being can - your life purpose: AWAKEN, IMAGINE, and CREATE!

The Purpose Project was founded upon the principle that each human being was born to do what they do best, to do what they love, and to create their own vision of the world. Kevin D. May has developed this dynamic learning opportunity to educate, inspire, and coach each participant in the process of discovering, embracing, and living out their truest vocation through their own authentic leadership style. Fredrich Buechner wrote; “True vocation is where your deep gladness meets one of the worlds deep needs” In light of Mr. Buechner’s great philosophy the purpose project is designed to accomplish the following objectives: to increase the number of leaders who strive to live as their highest self, to increase the number of leaders who actually do what they were born to do, and to transform our world through the deep gladness and natural leadership ability of every day leaders? It should come as no surprise that a great number of men and women are both unaware of their life purpose and find themselves doing jobs where their professional responsibilities fail to utilize their most dominant gifts.

Several years ago the Gallup Organization did an extensive poll on organizations and the people they employed. The poll asked individuals if their job allowed them to do what they were best at, many of the individuals polled responded with a resounding “No”. The Gallup Organization then compared the results of the survey with the overall performance of the companies in which the participants were employed. What they found was that those organizations that actively encouraged their employees to utilize their natural gifts on the job outperformed those that did not. The results of the Gallup poll support the principle that people are truly born to do what they are best at. The purpose projects vision is to inspire these everyday leaders mentioned in the Gallup poll to Awaken to the reality of their present life situation, To Imagine the life they were born to live, and to act courageously in Creating that life right now. If our world is not what we desire it to be, it is because we ourselves are not exactly what we were born to be.
